Driving Tips

  • Be light on your gas pedal when accelerating.
Stepping too hard on your gas pedal when you start up from a stopped position may cause your car to spin, especially in wet or icy conditions.
  • Ease your foot off the gas pedal when you see a red light ahead.
Not only is this fuel-efficient, but it will also help slow down the deterioration of your brakes when all you need to do is to step on the brakes lightly when you get to the intersection. Why continue to accelerate when you can't go anywhere?
  • Leave a comfortable space cushion.
Leave plenty of space between you and the vehicle ahead of you. Give yourself some room to move, in case of blocked traffic ahead. Less abrupt braking will also help to preserve your brakes longer.
  • ALWAYS shoulder check.
Blind spots are called just that for a reason. It is important to shoulder check when you turn at an intersection or change lanes. Vehicle accidents can be avoided simply by taking a second to look over your shoulder. Now how hard can that be?
  • Slow down and take your time.
Speed kills. Give yourself plenty of time for your journey. Getting anxious while driving endangers your passengers, others on the road, and yourself.
